HIGHLANDS RANCH When it comes to the world's oldest profession, the suburbs apparently aren't immune.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for prostitution out of her Highlands Ranch home after she allegedly solicited business from an undercover investigator from the Douglas County Sheriff's Department.
Neighbors had complained of too many comings and goings at the house on the 10000 block of South Cedaridge Court, Douglas County sheriff's spokeswoman Cocha Heyden said today.
Sheri Sims, 39, was arrested for prostitution and also on two counts of child abuse, because she had two kids under 18 living at the house where she allegedly conducted her business. She was booked at Douglas County jail.
The business was being advertised on the Denver Back Page, so an undercover investigator made contact and set up a meeting at the Cedaridge address.

This incident just shows that it's time we passed some common-sense sex laws. Why is it that driving is so highly regulated, but not sexual activity?

As long as the customers are of legal age, there is no crime committed. Now the kids will belong to the state & we can all take care of them......nice job Douglas County sheriff's dept. Another case of our wonderful tax dollars at work.

Not to worry, there are other places in the the Ranch where no one minds the comings and goings so much. A few free samples would have done wonders for her marketing efforts as well as quelled the neighborly concern. "Oh Honey, I don't think there has been that much traffic there, but I'll go over and talk to her about it."

Sorry cowboy21, but prostitution is a crime in Colorado, regardless of age. You don't like it, get the law changed - don't just whine about the cops.
And don't assume you have the only valid opinion either. You can't run even a legitimate commercial business out of your home in most residential areas, let alone having a bunch of Johns coming and going next door to your neighbors.

So who was this hurting????? So happy the cops are protecting us from prostitutes instead of getting the drunks off the road.
If Ritter was serious about getting more tax $$, this is a huge opportunity. Think of the tax bucks the state could get their hands on (so to speak).

no, it isn't. And while it is embarrassing, she should have thought about that before selling herself.
i think that is HER fault for getting into legal trouble, not the newspaper's for publishing readily available PUBLIC information. (you do know that police reports are public information, right?)
And the embarrassment of simply having her arrested for being a whore probably far outweighs her name being in the paper. But again, that is nobody's fault but her own. If she wanted to protect her kids from embarrassment, then she should have gotten a legit job.

I doubt there are many unpursued child molestation cases, or rapes, or murders. Perhaps there isn't a lot of evidence to go on for the ones you are thinking about, I don't know. There was a complaint, there was an investigation, there was a violation of the law. End of story.

well, too often cases like this AREN'T victimless. I mean, this woman apparently did this with her kids in the house...
how, in any way, is that okay? exposing minors to an illicit and illegal sexual business??
and since prostitution is illegal, there's plenty of other illegal activities tied to it -- no matter how 'high class' she is. true, this could be an argument for legalized whoring...
but bottom line is that it is not legal, and nor were her actions. if she lived alone, i might be able to agree with you more... but she didn't and she put those kids at risk with her illegal job.

I think it's an awful thing to do with children living under one's roof, and she will legally have to answer for that (and hopefully do some much-needed soul searching, to boot). But I stand by my opinion that the papers could have shown a little mercy towards her children and not identified their mother's name and address.
