The Fan now can be found on FM dial

The often-raucous sports talk of Scott Hastings and Alfred Williams abruptly replaced the smooth jazz sounds of Kenny G and George Benson at 1 p.m. Thursday on KJCD-FM (104.3).
Lincoln Financial Media, operator of KKFN-AM (950), moved The Fan, home of sports talk and Nuggets and Avalanche game coverage, to 104.3 on the FM dial.
The Fan will simulcast on the two stations until March 31, said Bob Call, vice president and general manager of the five LFM Denver radio stations.
A source said KPEN-AM, the ESPN outlet currently heard on 1600, will be moved to the much stronger 950 frequency when the simulcast ends.
According to Call, The Fan now is one of a handful of sports-talk stations around the country utilizing the clearer FM signal in local markets.
"It's an exciting move which offers listeners of The Fan the new experience of tuning into sports talk and play-by-play with an FM sound," Call said.
He added the change offers the station's clients "an exceptional advertising platform."
The change coincides with the addition of Dan Patrick's new syndicated sports show (9 p.m. to midnight weekdays) when it doesn't conflict with Avalanche and Nuggets coverage.
The smooth-jazz format, while off the regular radio dial, can be streamed on the Internet at SmoothJazzDenver.com and also can be heard on HD Radio at 98.5-2.
Arbitron audience ratings for the music format, which premiered eight years ago, have declined recently, Call said.
The Fan has been operating on the 950-AM frequency for 12 years.

Very bad news, the FM signal will not carry into inside buildings beyond a certain distance, like say Ft Collins or Cheyenne. The AM signal carried okay to places that far away. Besides, it is impossible to imagine Irv Brown and Joe Williams as FM radio personalities - they are not suave enough by any definition !

950 or 104.3 - doesn't matter.
If you tune into Scott and Al you'll be disappointed.
You'll hear Scott stammering and stuttering through the whole show barely able to complete a thought. Let alone actually finishing a sentence.
Al chimes in from time to time with comments that make you wonder if this guy has a college degree at all. From CU or anywhere else.
An example? Few weeks ago, Al named about three Senators he thought should have grilled Clemens during his House testimony. I didn't have the heart to call in and explain to Al that Senators don't even work in the House. They work in the SENATE.
Between Scott's stuttering problem and Al's lack of intelligence the show is almost unlistenable. Just another example of tired ex-jocks getting over with an easy job after their playing career.
No talent at all as broadcasters. None, period, zero. FM or AM doesn't matter.

If these two "ex-jocks" are that much of an issue for you, why don't you take the tuner in your hand and change the station? These sports talk show hosts are'nt always hired to meet the likes of everyone, they are hired because they are interesting, can relate some experiences, or just have the ability to provoke some type of debate on the topic of the moment. Personally I don't care for their show either, but I solved the problem by not listening to it! Go find something else relevant to whine about!

Well Broncos4life, it's a dilemna, as sports fans. We crave sports talk. We want more than the 3 minutes of reading a column gives us. We want more sports information. More in depth sports. So we tune in to Sports Radio.! But what do we get? exactly what these guys said,.... the bumbling stumbling moron named Scott Hastings, and the moody like a teen age girl Alfred Williams. Scott Hastings is on the radio to talk about himself, his wife, his kids, what he had for dinner, what color his socks are. I tune in periodically, craving sports talk, and angrily shut off the complete idiot every time, long before the show is over. 2 stations offer sports talk radio in the afternoon, and both shows are living proof that not just anybody can put their pie hole up to a microphone and talk sports, and it's just sports, so it's just good. It's awful. Being a sports talk radio show host, to us sports fans, sounds pretty easy, but there are soooo many out their on the airwaves that prove, via a really bad show, that it really isn't that easy at all. If you enjoy sports talk radio, minus the sports talk, tune in to Scott Hastings! B'dih b'dih b'dih B'DATS ALL FOLKS!

Yo, Bronco4,
You must have misunderstood. What I wrote was homage to Scott Hastings. Denver listeners are lucky to have someone with the talent of this second coming of Demosthenes. He's the closest thing radio has to Orsen Wells. There's rhyme and reason to his incessant stuttering and stammering. It's like code. Yeah. Code. You have to listen for the gems that sneak out.
No, my main man, what you inferred was anything but criticism.

It's a shame that the only change during the day on 950 is when Jim Rome Comes on. I understand that they're local guys but its tough to sit and listen to the morning guys, scott & al then the Afternoon guys all talk about the same thing and not add anything new to the conversations.
