Regional scene: Denver Athletic Club honors Tulowitzki

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has been named the Colorado athlete of the year by the Denver Athletic Club.
Tulowitzki will receive the award from the club at a May 21 banquet.
Former Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick will receive the DAC's Career Achievement Award.
* Colorado College defenseman Jack Hillen was named the offensive player of the week by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association after recording two goals and two assists in a 5-2 win last against Minnesota State.
* Regis University senior right-hander Kaitlyn Gentert, a Berthoud High School graduate, has been named the softball pitcher of the week by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs infielder Rachel Hancock, a Centaurus High School graduate, was named the softball player of the week.
RAGE TIES FOR FIRST Clay Plume scored 2 minutes, 34 seconds into overtime to lift the Rocky Mountain Rage (34-16-5) to a 5-4 win Tuesday against the Arizona Sundogs (30-19-6) at the Broomfield Event Center.
The win creates a tie for first place in the Central Hockey League's Northwest Division with the Loveland-based Colorado Eagles.
SIMICH LEADS CU Stephanie Simich totaled a three-round 229 to help the University of Colorado women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif.
Stefanie Ferguson totaled 228 to steer Colorado State to a 10th-place finish.
PIONEERS RISING The University of Denver tennis teams each received program-record rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, as the women's team (10-0) reached No. 24 and the men's team (10-2) rose to No. 37.
* The Fort Lewis women's basketball team (26-2) was ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
CHASING GLORY The DU and CU skiing teams will take new runs at a national title when the NCAA Ski Championships start today at the Bridger Bowl resort near Bozeman, Mont.
The Pioneers have won 18 titles to date and the Buffaloes have earned 17.
CU last won in 2006 and DU in 2005.
