THEY SAID IT!
"I'd put her in an Oprah sphere in terms of influence."

YOU AND WHO ELSE?
"I'm really here today to reclaim our mountains."
Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, during a Democratic National Convention news conference Thursday morning, revealed the real intention of her visit to Colorado.
Sebelius correctly noted that before Colorado became a state, Kansas Territory stretched west "to the summit of the Rocky Mountains."
After the DNC in August, Sebelius said, "I plan to come home with a redrawn map."

DENVER AND THE DEMOCRATS:
1908 AND 2008
Exactly 100 years ago, Denver was preparing for the Democratic National Convention. And here's how the Rocky reported the big story on June 27 1908.
* TOP HEADLINE: Johnson boomers encouraged by Georgia result
* THE STORY: Clark Howell, editor of the Atlanta Constitution, succeeded in electing an anti-Bryan delegation from Georgia. It has given fresh courage to the supporters of Gov. John Johnson of Minnesota, who are now bending every effort to defeat the commoner on the first ballot.
But William Jennings Bryan's managers labeled it "midsummer madness." They say Bryan has 751 votes, and Johnson and Judge George Gray of Delaware combined will not have over 125 votes.
