Story Tools

Drinking Liberally, a project of the Living Liberally progressive social organization, is exactly what you think it is: a network of liberals meeting to quaff booze at saloons nationwide. There are 15 chapters in Colorado - huge surprise there - and the main Denver branch is headed by John Erhardt of the local comedy improv troupe Rodents of Unusual Size, along with co-leaders Kathy Brandon and Sarah Fong. For three years, these tipsy libs have been trucking along the progressive booze road, hosting events and bringing in visitors like Elizabeth Kucinich. But we at Club Hop HQ don't want to give the impression that those on the left side of the political spectrum are just a bunch of drunks. So here are Drinking Liberally's Top 5 Other Liberal Activities Besides Just Drinking:

1. Living Liberally Political action through social interaction. Or, when drinking isn't enough, why not do everything liberally?*

*May not always apply, offer not valid when civil rights being invalidated.

2. Reading Liberally Gives progressive authors an audience across America. Reading Liberally book tours help create events for traveling authors - whether you are in a conservative desert or liberal oasis, there is an audience ready to welcome you home.

3. Screening Liberally We started Screening Liberally because films shouldn't end when the lights go up. This isn't just about motion pictures - this is about the big picture.

4. Eating Liberally Because it sounds better than burping liberally?

5. Shooting Liberally Aiming for democracy, we've dealt a lot with the First Amendment. Some liberals enjoy firearms, too, so let's take on the Second.
