* Series history: The Rockies lead the all-time series 9-3, including 2-1 in Detroit in their only trip in 2003.
* Roster report: Third baseman/catcher Brandon Inge was placed on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his side Thursday and catcher Dane Sardina was called up. Designated hitter Gary Sheffield was activated from disabled list Wednesday and first baseman Jeff Larish was sent to the minors. Right-hander Jeremy Bonderman (nerve problem in right shoulder), catcher Vance Wilson (right elbow surgery) and infielder Ramon Santiago (separated left shoulder) are on the disabled list.
* Quickly: The Tigers have won 14 of 18, including taking two of three from the Cardinals, Giants and Padres and sweeping three from the Dodgers in that stretch. . . . Detroit went 1-2 against Arizona in the May portion of interleague play. . . . One-time Rockies closer Todd Jones has converted 14-of-14 save opportunities. . . . The Tigers have won eight of their past nine home games, giving them a 22-17 record at Comerica Park.
