Denver police have arrested a man accused of impersonating a peace officer after he pulled over a uniformed sheriff's deputy.
The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Monday on southbound Chambers Road near East Andrews Drive in Montbello.
Police said the suspect was driving a white Chevrolet Impala that had flashing red and blue lights in the car grille and rear window. He was wearing black pants and a blue shirt with a badge printed on it, police said.
When he saw the deputy's uniform the man fled. Police caught him a short time later. They identified him as Darrick Ray Huhman, 25, of Denver.
He was wearing a bulletproof vest and had a loaded Glock semi-automatic handgun in a holster at the time of his arrest, police said. Bail was set at $2,000.

As ForeatGump always said:Stupid is as Stupid does.
He will really enjoy his stay in the big house.
What a moron to be so stupid as to impersonate a officer of the law.
I am sure the nice offirs at the big house will make sure he is nice and comfy in his new little home.
Wonder how his parents feel raising this total idiot.
Well they were probably sister and brother anyway.

Only $2,000 bail? That seems pretty low considering how prepared he was for "something" - the bulletproof vest, a loaded Glock and fake police lights on his car.
The cops need to show us his face so if the public is ever pulled over by this fool, and you know he will try it again, we will know he's a fake. Or at least we can make fun of how he looks on the blogs :-)

Yep, that is what they are called: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace_of...
I had an uncle who was a park ranger for a metropark back east. He was also a licensed peace officer. One of the benefits of being a peace officer is that it gets you out of jury duty (believe it's a standard question asked of all prospective jurors).
I suppose the tradeoff there is you probably still spend a lot of time in court.
