* Why here? This southeastern Colorado reservoir offers fair to good fishing for a variety of warm-water species. The water level is relatively good.

* What's hot? White bass and occasional wipers have been moving along the dam and in some of the rocky coves. Though most are not especially large, some bigger fish are in the mix.

* Tackle box: Shiny crankbaits and white Mister Twisters.

* Best times: Mornings and late afternoons.

* How to get there: From Denver, travel southeast on U.S. 287 or south on Interstate 25 to U.S. 50. Proceed on U.S. 50 (west from U.S. 287; east from I-25) to Hasty. Turn south on School Street and proceed two miles to the lake.

* Ask the experts: PT's Gun Sport and Pawn shop in Lamar, 1-719-336-7836.

* Fishing report: The Colorado Division of Wildlife continues to experience computer problems, so the Colorado Fishing Report is not available. For a fishing overview, stocking report and bulletin board, visit RockyMountainNews.com/ fishing-report.
