Wheat Ridge police are investigating what they call a complicated mortgage fraud case involving what appear to be two related companies in the city, Superior Lending Association of Colorado, 6990 W. 38th Ave., and Mavy Inc., 4380 Harlan St.
No arrests have been made and the city is not releasing the names of the suspects or potential victims.
Police spokeswoman Lisa Stigall said the apparent over-inflation of properties being purchased and doctored loan applications for unqualified buyers may involve about $1 million in fraudulent transactions.
Neither Superior Lending nor Mavy are listed on the Colorado Division of Real Estate's Web site, which regulates mortgage brokerage companies, and a recording at Mavy said the number has been temporarily disconnected.
Stigall said the investigation began in May when detectives received a call about a fraudulent mortgage application.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Wheat Ridge Police Department tip line at 303-235-2947.
