Dry conditions and the prospect of wildfires have prompted several Colorado counties to impose fire restrictions.
Jefferson County: No open fires except within a permanently constructed fire grate in a developed park, campground or picnic area. Smoking is banned unless inside an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or within an area at least 3 feet in diameter free of all flammable materials.
Douglas County: No open fires or fireworks sales. Charcoal and gas grills and fires in established pits are allowed if flames are shorter than 4 feet.
Boulder County: No open fires or use or sale of fireworks, effective at noon Friday.
Arapahoe County: No open fires, fireworks, campfires, warming fires, fires in outdoor wood-burning stoves or prescribed burns of any kind.
Adams County: No open fires, including campfires, warming fires and fires in wood-burning stoves that create sparks. Smoking is banned unless inside an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or within an area at least 3 feet in diameter free of all flammable materials.
Elbert County: Fireworks are banned. No open fires except for grill fires, fires in approved fire pits and outdoor welding. Smoking is banned unless inside an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or within an area at least 3 feet in diameter free of all flammable materials.
Larimer County: No restrictions as of Wednesday.
The fire danger today should be moderate for most of the state, but high in pockets of northwestern Colorado and most of eastern Colorado.
