Odd coupling
The Jonas Brothers will perform at this year's Video Music Awards, the wholesome pop group's first appearance at the event, known for its decadence and eye-popping water-cooler moments (many involving Britney Spears). Brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonastold the Associated Press: "We have grown up watching all the amazing and iconic performan- ces on the VMAs. It is an honor to be a part of something so incredible." The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 7.
Plenty o' Emmys
27 regional Emmy awards won by 9News were more than that of any other station in the Heartland chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The station also won its fourth consecutive Emmy for station of excellence. Among the winners: Four O'clock @ 9News, daytime newscast award; Your Show, for interactivity; 9News' Marty Coniglio, for weather anchor; Kirk Montgomery, for performer; 9News reporter Chris Vanderveen for commentator/editorialist, general assignment report, news feature, news feature series and writer.
