Dining briefs: Vail Valley Wine Auction

If you're a serious oenophile with deep pockets, mark your calendars for the Vail Valley Wine Auction, a tony sip-and-sup affair that includes a five-course wine-pairing dinner created by top chefs from the Vail Valley, Italy and Austria, plus an impressive silent auction that, if you're lucky, might reward your generosity with a VIP culinary trip to Florence or Italy or a Argentinian wine-country expedition. You'll have to spend in order to savor, but the proceeds benefit a slew of Vail Valley charitable organizations.

* Where: Gerald R. Ford Hall and the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa

* Who's involved: Chefs from far and wide, including David Walford (Splendido, Beaver Creek), Paul Ferzacca (La Tour, Vail), Ferid Rama and Pascal Coudouy (Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa), Christoph Wagner (Rud-Alpe, Lech, Austria) and Marco Stabile (Ora D'Aria, Florence, Italy).

* Who benefits: The Bright Future Foundation, Colorado Mountain College's Culinary Institute and the Vail and Edwards Rotary Clubs.
