A group fighting a measure to boost state revenues from oil and gas drilling to pay for scholarships and alternative energy projects raised an additional $400,000 from July 3 through July 16.
In the latest campaign filing deadline on Monday, Coloradans for a Stable Economy reported it took in $250,000 from Bill Barrett Corp. and $150,000 from Occidental Petroleum.
The group has raised more than $4 million from seven companies to fight the initiative by A Smarter Colorado.
Over the same two weeks in July, A Smarter Colorado raised $350,000, bringing its total to about $800,000. Contributions mostly came from The Nature Conservancy.
Another initiative, Amendment 46, would prohibit the state from granting preferential treatment to anyone on the basis of race, sex or ethnicity in hiring, education and contracts.
The group backing that measure, Colorado Civil Rights Initiative Committee, reported contributions of $22,100.
The Vote No on Amendment 46 committee took in $2,650 during the two-week period.
Backers of Amendment 48, a proposal defining a fertilized human egg as a person, took in $10,088.
Opponents reported a $200,000 contribution from Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.
