Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will begin a five-game rehabilitation assignment Wednesday night with Double-A Tulsa and could rejoin the Rockies when they begin a series Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field.
Tulowitzki arrived in Tulsa on Tuesday but, because his flight was delayed, was unable to take the field and work out before the Drillers game against Springfield. He played six innings Wednesday against Springfield, going 1-for-4 and scoring a run.
Tulowitzki is recovering from a 16-stitch cut on his right palm, which he sustained July 4 when he slammed a maple bat down in frustration and the bat shattered in his hand.
He is scheduled to play seven innings Wednesday night and nine innings Thursday for the Drillers against Springfield. Tulowitzki will accompany the Drillers on their trip to Little Rock, Ark., and is scheduled to serve as Tulsa’s designated hitter Friday at Arkansas before playing nine innings there Saturday and Sunday at Arkansas. Tulowitzki is scheduled to be reevaulated Monday in Denver and could be activated to play that night for the Rockies.
At the time of his injury, Tulowitzki had gone 6-for-23 with three doubles, two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored in seven games. In 39 games this season, Tulowitzki is hitting .166 with three home runs and 16 RBI. He missed 46 games after tearing a left quadriceps tendon April 29, an injury that sidelined him until June 20.

I hope Tulo is not as bust! $31 million over 6 years is a lot to pay a shortstop who is always injured or is hitting below the Mendoza line.

I think they put the cart before the horse on this one. He will, hopefully, get better.. He has the mentality to do it, but he needs to grow up. Shattering a bat out of frustration is childish, he's supposed to be a prifessional. Shades of Jamie Wright..or shall I dare say it..Smell-o Anthony

A 22 year old doesn't put up numbers (.293, 24 hr, 99 rbi) like he did in '07 by getting lucky. Not to mention, he should have won the Gold Glove. What you have here is a sophmore slump acompanied by a lengthy injury and a freak accident. He is simply a 23 year old with a few holes in his swing. He'll get them patched up and I feel you should expect .280, 25 hr, and 100 rbi per year, with Gold Glove defense for the next decade. RELAX, be patient, don't judge too soon, and enjoy. Go Tulo!

hlucki- Funny you bring up Tulo acting like a child any yet you didn't say a word about Matt's behavior on Sunday vs the Mets. At least Tulo is still learning at the big league level and his was hidden from public view, Matt had his tantrum on National tv where the whole country could see his behavior.

platoro i hope your kidding. aluminum bats in the majors would have 123 hr season and 5 dead pitchers. tulo is the truth, the only reason he didnt win r.o.y lat year is cuz the obviously dont look at defensive stats. i mean braun had to switch positions becuase he made so many errors. hes the best raw talent the rox have ever had bar no one.
