Call it the Democratic National Convention spring break.
Students, faculty, and most staff at the three Auraria campus colleges in downtown Denver will be given a week off shortly after the fall semester kicks in to accommodate the DNC.
Metropolitan State College of Denver for example will not have any classes and only a skeleton crew of key personnel from Aug. 23 to Aug. 29, spokeswoman Cathy Lucas said Wednesday.
To make up for the lost time classes start a week earlier than usual, on Aug. 11.
Even the Auraria wireless will be shut down to prevent anyone from hacking into the system and using it for "malicious stuff," Lucas said. Also, no students will be on campus to use the wireless.
Metro State, Community College of Denver, and the University of Colorado Denver count 37,000 students, Lucas added.
