Qwest Communications has joined AT&T and Verizon in financing a free online resource to help consumers switch their phone, Internet and TV services when they move to another part of the country.
Movearoo.com, which officially launches today, also provides a checklist, mover quotes and other services, such as the ability to change energy utilities.
The Web site displays a list of "trusted brands," which, besides the three telcos, includes Dish Network and DirecTV, which are satellite TV partners in some regions of the country. But you can't use Movearoo.com to switch services to a cable company.
Telcos such as Qwest are trying to stem steep landline losses amid increasing competition from cable companies.
