Should the Broncos suspend or cut Brandon Marshall?

Just days after cautioning schoolkids about the importance of learning from his many mistakes last month, Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall made some more.

Marshall, 24, was cited June 12 for straying from his lane and driving without a valid license or proof of insurance while traveling north on I-25 near Broadway. The incident, first reported Tuesday by CompleteColorado.com, was the latest blunder for the player, who has tried the patience of teammates and fans by failing to stick to oft-repeated vows to "grow up."

Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, didn't immediately reply to a request for comment Tuesday.

Marshall is increasingly at risk of losing his driver's license.

If convicted in the June traffic violation, he faces 10 violation points against his license. He's also in jeopardy of 18 license points if found guilty in an October 2007 drunken-driving arrest that included driving the wrong direction on a one-way street and wandering out of his lane. A license can be suspended in Colorado for 12 violation points in 12 months or 18 points within 24 months. He is scheduled to be arraigned July 24.

Just six days before the June traffic ticket, Marshall essentially advised students at Wyatt-Edison Charter School in Denver to learn from his many off-field mistakes.

"If you Google my name, you'll see a lot of negative things because I've made mistakes," he told them.

What if he got in a wreck with no insurance (I know, they said "proof of insurance" so we'll have to wait on the verdict on that)? The person who gets hurt in the other vehicle, suffers because of his stupidity. He has no excuse for not having proof of insurance on him. Hey Brandon, you keep it in your glove compartment! Hey Brandon, you keep your drivers license in your wallet when you drive! What a complete idiot! We should send him packing with Javon. He doesn't have the teams best interest in mind. Hell, he hasn't his own interest in mind.

We have several in our area. Strange, I think there MIGHT be "ONE" Raiders bar, but it has a small crowd, from what I'm told.

Yeah, some of us are still stinging from tax revenues being spent to support millionaires. However, I want a nice, state-of-the-art facility. Keep in mind it will be used 8 days out of 365. Being the generous, rich guy that I am I will front 25% of the cost of this facility.

If you pay the remaining 75% of the cost that would be great. If you don't mind you will also have to pay to maintain the facility and for the police during the 8 days the facility is being used.

In other words, you front most of the money and I get to keep all the profit. You won't get your initial investment back, but should be able to make enough to pay for the maintenance of the facility.

Still interested? If so, just let me know.

And, yes I AM a Bronco fan. I cried with they lost to Dallas in SB XII. I cried as Elway was carried off the field in XXXII.

Second, regardless of the amount of talent Marshall has, he obviously will not be able to achieve his full potential as a professional athlete with these incidents that keep occurring. It doesn't matter how insignificant the offense is, the main point is Marshall continues to represent himself, the Broncos, and the fans of the Broncos, and the NFL for that matter, in a less than desirable manner. He obviously can't get his act together, so maybe Denver needs to cut their losses and move on.

Guess what ricky, we have to deal with Boulder County, where a bunch of idiotic granola eating (and in many cases, wearing) wannabe's live. Why should the taxpayers of the state pay for any public improvements in Boulder County when the rich wannabe's can do it for themselves? Oh yeah, that's right, because it's public improvements. Kind of like Mile High Stadium and Coors Field. Hey ricky, don't like DIA either? Another taxpayer supported project. If you're really blind to it, I'll help you out. The stadium is used more than 8 times a year, but then again, you live in Boulder County and many people in Boulder County aren't living in reality. Pat Bowlen doesn't own Mile High Stadium, just like the Monfort's don't own Coors Field. You know what else, the City of Denver was trying to lure Boeing to Denver several years ago with incentive packages, and Boeing turned Denver down and kept the operations in Chicago. I think last year that facility was closed down, so it's a good thing we didn't waste money on something that was only going to last a few years. Seriously, if you want to live in Wyoming, move there. You won't have any sports teams, your taxes won't go to supporting any stadiums, and you can live in a hole and not have to deal with many people.

And - RickyLee - it was a .1% "add-on" to the RTD tax (actually, it was an extension of the paid off tax from the Coors Field funding) - which is why much of the metro Denver area paid which includes Boulder, Aurora, Englewood, etc, and why only those who lived in those areas got to vote - what's the matter - did you forget to vote against? Or couldn't you drum up enough other voters to get the issue to fail and now you act like a spoiled brat? There is another alternative - you could leave the state - and move to a place where you aren't pissed off at the team (if such a place exists). Or you could just keep off the Broncos comment sections since you have nothing to offer but venom - which isn't a valid criticism.

Before hanging the guy let's wait to see if there's even a conviction on something like this. With proof of insurance and driver's license this will likely be pled down to virtually nothing.

The other charges are what's likely to sting. My guess is that this guy's out of chances with Shanahan and--while a common traffic violation isn't liable to do it-- his immense talent is one more violation away from finding another place to use it. Here's hoping he pulls his head out.

Brandon’s total contract sighed when he was a 4th round draft pick is probably barley worth a million which would make him a steal. These infraction hardly equal to Packman’s potential involvement in a shooting so that is a ridiculous comparison. Yea he will probably get suspended but maybe 4 games. Furthermore if the Broncos Part ways with Brandon do you really think that they will just cut him. Several teams would give the farm for such a talent with a low salary.

It's not like this was a DUI or some serious vehicular charge, the man got a normal freaking traffic violation. The Rocky just tries to feed the flames of athlete gossip. Give it a rest.

I'm STILL waiting for a valid reason I should have to pay for that satdium for rich people to use. FACT: it dosen't benefit Longmont in the least, and none of you have any retort to that FACT.

I hope the rich, spoiled brats known as the Denver Donkeys LOSE EVERY GAME.

Kmonty, it's not "A" traffic ticket. It's "ANOTHER" traffic ticket. From what I read in other articles, he was trying to pass from the shoulder of the road. Stop and think about it. Domestic violence? Dui? Passing on the right hand side of the road? Does the words "anger management issues" ring a bell? It's probably a good think the police spotted him. If someone would have tried to keep him from passing them it could have turned into road rage. For all his talent the Broncos are better off without him.

For those defending the stadium, please keep in mind it only benefits the rich players and those attending the games. The old stadium was just as beneficial to the surrounding businesses, and for the fans watching the game on TV the condition or size of the stadium makes no difference at all.

As far as the misbehaving player is concerned, I wonder if the police called the Bronco's front office first, like they did when one of the players was killed last year.

RickeyLee, it sounds to me like you have a job at McDonald's or something, the way you're carrying on about having to spend a little money. Man, you are such a whiner. Spider, I agree with you. He has been showing a pattern. When I received my drivers license suspension, I was 17. 33 years ago. No tickets since. Brandon is 24 and still driving like he owns the road. People act like a traffic ticket is always a "failure to use a turn signal", or some crap like that? He was not keeping his lane, which for all you geniouses out there, can end up in a serious accident when he forces someone off the road. Lane control is one of the most critical fundamentals of driving. There was someone, here in Vegas, who failed to maintain lane control, and jumped the sidewalk and killed some people at a bus stop. It's happened more then once, out here (several times, to be exact). Get a clue.

RickyLee, He didn't mean competitive only on the field. He was referring to the financial world of the the NFL, broadcasting, etc.. As you might have noticed, almost every NFL team is building a new one or is in the process of getting ready to. As for buying you a house??? Your vast intellect is astounding. Take your "Mini Mart" salary and buy your own. What I agreed to pay for with the stadium was done for me and for my own selfish reasons. I didn't do it for you. Oh, and when you actually pick a team, instead of getting on Bronco blogs simply to be a thorn in our side, then maybe your opinion will actually count for something.
glassguy, I'm in agreement with you. I said as much in my last post. LANE CONTROL! We had a fatality the other day because of lack of lane control. One woman is dead and the other already lost one leg and may lose the other. The guy might have been on prescription meds but has not been determined yet. The thing is, he left his lane, hit the sidewalk, and hurt innocent people. Brandon was lucky it didn't happen to him, during the last ticket or the DUI before.

Yes Brandon Marshall has made a lot of mistakes, but that doesn't mean we start over analysing everything he does. He didn't get another DUI charge! He could have simple got distracted and drifted over into the other lane( which we've all done at least once), and on the insurance and drivers license there's been plenty of times I've left my wallet at the house on accident. With the insurance, enough people have not realized that there insurance card in the glove box was expired and BOOM No proper proof of insurance. I'm not saying he hasn't done enough to get some bad feedback, but not getting cut from the team. I think that he should serve a suspension for his immature decisions, and having fun with his brother on vacation not being one of them. Even the incident with the young lady and the taxi driver, if you read his explanation the girl was trying to steal his cellphone. Naturally if someone tries taking your belongings you're going to try and stop them. She hopped in a taxi, and when Brandon Marshall tried getting the taxi driver to stop he scared him (Makes sense right, the taxi driver wouldn't know what was going on). So to wrap it all up, yes he's made some bad decisions, and so a SENSIBLE NFL suspension is in order...Sensible.

I say that the man should have the license to do whatever he wants. He's Brandon Marshall!!! I believe that Denver Broncos should be treated like royalty and if he wants to drive on the side of the road, swerve in and out of traffic; then I say let him! If he came up behind me in traffic and wanted me to get out of the way, well then, I would gladly pull over to the side and let him speed onward! I think every Bronco should have a special blue and orange ferrari with lights and sirens on the top so they can go as fast as they want! People, we have to remember that these players aren't just average men like you and I, they're better than us and deserve more. I support my Denver Broncos, why don't you? I say no suspension, but more lenient rules. We should protest this police department for even touching Brandon Marshall. If you were a true Bronco fan, then you would feel the same way.

Now if a NE Patriot or a SD Charger sped in Colorado... well they should be put in jail for life with no parole.

Ha, ha, a little bit of sarcasm, there, benjicpalmer? Timbo, I agree, denverone was out of line with his comment. I will however, say this. When you go to college, as Brandon did, and you get an education, don't go in front of a lot of elementary school children and talk with an uneducated sounding slang. He talked like he was still on the streets. He went to college. He needs to learn to speak properly. Kids mimic what they hear. The best bad habit is the one never learned. It's Brandons mindset that he currently is displaying, that is showing us the way he thinks. Champ doesn't talk that way. John Lynch doesn't talk that way. Neither does most of the team. How he talked to those children, though, did sound weak.
