The 2008 edition of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival attracted an estimated 370,000 visitors, a 3 percent drop in visitors from the 380,000 who thronged the streets of Cherry Creek North in 2007.
Figures released indicate that 135,000 people attended the outdoor event on July 4, while 125,000 visited July 5 and 110,000 on July 6. Average annual attendance is 350,000, according to organizers.
Festival officials could not be reached this morning to discuss why attendance dipped from 2007. The recently concluded event is the 18th annual festival.

It was a great event, remember that crowd size estimates are notoriously inaccurate (i.e. Cinco de Mayo trying to claim it had 500,000 people, but Cinco is a terribly run event anyway), so talking about trends from year-to-year is statistically dubious.
Anyway, the "Protect Colorado's Future" political special interest group, which dispatched paid signature solicitors on-site, should be ashamed of itself for its self-interested and unethical behavior. I will never support Protect CO's Future's platform because of the way it conducted itself this past holiday weekend.

Maybe we should a homeless art festival as well. Or the Great Rocky Mountain Garage Sale in City Park or Civic Center. Only high class garage items please.
