3OH!3 started out as bored college antics by a couple of guys with computers and beats, then grew into a real band.

Last month's Warped Tour stop in Denver was dominated by a goofy set by the Boulder rappers. By midday it seemed a third of the crowd was sporting T-shirts with the band's name or its single, Punkb*tch.

In stores today is their album, Want, a dozen tongue-in-cheek tracks including fan favorites like Holler Till You Pass Out. The duo - Nathaniel Motte and Sean Foreman - have perfected the art of skewering music while making a homage to it.

Want sometimes feels like a mix between the parody of Weird Al and the worshipful way Beck can pay tribute to genres; Don't Trust Me is the perfect blend of the two. Choke Chain lampoons hard-core rap while nailing its nuances with its "getcha getcha drunk on" chorus. I'm Not Your Boyfriend Baby keeps the laughs, false bravado and irony coming.

If anything, Want suffers from the same problems Weird Al does - a little can go a long way - and the band's frantic live shows stand up better under repeated listenings than the disc does. Still, Want is a fun diversion for the band and its fans.

3oh!3 is a good band but watch out for the JONESFAM, they do regular shows at the snakepit and other various venues. If you like rap then look into them!
