Thieves rob from paralyzed vet on 4th of July

PARKER — Thieves broke into storage units at a home under construction in Parker and made off with homebuilding supplies and volunteer homebuilders' tools, News4 reported Friday.

The site, being built for Iraq veteran Matt Keil and his wife, Tracy, is clearly marked as being sponsored by the national organization "Homes for our Troops."

Dozens of volunteers from Pulte Homes and other organizations have been building the home.

Most of the supplies for the home have been donated through "Homes for our Troops."

The Keils received word on Friday that their homesite had been vandalized and materials stolen.

"This is just too much," a tearful Tracy Keil told News4.

Staff Sgt. Matt Keil was shot by sniper on his second tour of duty in Iraq. The injury left him paralyzed. He has fought back from the injury to regain limited use of his left hand and to breathe without a ventilator.
