REGIONAL SCENE: Avalanche signs veteran Tjarnqvist

Veteran defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist has signed a one- year, $750,000 contract with the Avalanche on Thursday.
Tjarnqvist, 31, played for Yaroslavl in Russia last season, posting one goal, two assists and 14 penalty minutes in 18 games.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder previously spent five seasons in the NHL - three with Atlanta and one each with Minnesota and Edmonton. He has 16 goals, 70 assists and 122 penalty minutes in 315 NHL games.
The Umea, Sweden, native missed most of the 2006-07 season with the Oilers because of a groin injury. He had three goals, 12 assists and 30 penalty minutes in 37 games.
The Avalanche also signed 6-3, 219-pound left wing Chris Durno, 27, to a minor league contract.
Durno had 23 goals, 26 assists and 109 penalty minutes in 80 games last season with the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League.
ALL-STAR TRIO Colorado Springs Sky Sox players Joe Koshansky, Seth Smith and Christian Colonel have been selected to represent the Pacific Coast League in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Louisville, Ky., on July 16.
