Rock shows at Red Rocks and bison at Buckhorn,

lawmakers' lair and art- filled museum,

Western art history and library looks, these are a few of her favorites to book . . .

When the Dems come, when there's free time, when they're feeling bored,

They simply remember her favorite things, and then they'll know Dennnnnnn-ver's core.

With apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein, I made up my own lyrics to U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette's list of her favorite things that are posted along with video clips on the demconvention.com Web site. Just click on DeGette's "Denver's Finest" to get her top picks in our fair city.

The project was a collaboration between the congresswoman and the host committee.

"A number of her colleagues kept asking her about Denver and what there's to do in Denver," said Kristofer Eisenla, DeGette's press secretary. "She loves talking about Denver and the added bonus is to be able to talk about Denver to her colleagues in Congress who will be coming here in August."

Keep on clicking, too, because DeGette will post eight more video clips of her finest leading up to the DNC Aug. 25-28.

"It will be a flavor of different places to eat, shop, see," Eisenla said. "It's a mix of everything."

ACE: AOR Inc. adman Matt Keeney had golfed roughly 20 rounds before participating in the Penny Parker Open, a benefit for Sense of Security, at the Inverness Golf Club on June 23. So call it rookie's luck when he stepped up to the 181-yard eighth hole with a five-wood in hand.

With a mighty whack, Keeney hit the green, but it wasn't obvious that he had aced the hole. The foursome was searching for the ball when Realtor Nancy Levine peered into the cup.

"We sounded like idiots, we were screaming so loud," Kenney said. "It was the most ridiculous thing on earth. It doesn't make sense that someone my caliber could get a hole-in-one." The scorecard doesn't care, my friend.

CHINOOK WINDS CHANGE: Chinook Tavern, a longtime eatery below street level in Cherry Creek North, closed Tuesday to make the move to its new spot inside the swanky Landmark development in Greenwood Village in late fall or early winter.

The new and improved space is bigger - 110 more seats - and will be renamed Chinook at The Landmark.

EAVESDROPPING on a man talking to a woman about another man: "He's more flexible than you are, but titanium is more flexible than you are."

Penny Parker's column appears Tuesday through Saturday. Listen to her on the Caplis and Silverman radio show between 4 and 5 p.m. Fridays on KHOW-AM (630). Call her at 303-954-5224 or e-mail parkerp@Rocky MountainNews.com.
