Ralston Valley's Hornung commits to Rams

When Pierce Hornung is sure of something, he doesn't hesitate, whether it be with a jump shot, a pass, rebound or even which college to attend.

That's part of the reason Hornung, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound forward from Ralston Valley, has committed to play basketball at Colorado State in 2009.

"There wasn't just one thing," Hornung said. "I can't say there was just one thing I like about CSU. I like everything about CSU."

Hornung still has one more season at Ralston Valley but won't have to undergo the hassles that go with recruiting.

He was the only underclassman named to the Rocky's Class 4A All-State team last season after averaging 18.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.3 steals.

"I'm very excited," Hornung said. "I know I made the right decision. Being recruited is more fun than stressful, but when you find the right place, you know it."

Hornung, rated as a good shooter, passer and defender who can play physical, is the first Colorado player to commit to CSU since Tim Miles took over as coach on March 22, 2007.
