Source: Nuggets aren't after Kidd
Rumor team had talked with agent called inaccurate

Don't Kidd yourself. The Nuggets aren't going after a New Jersey point guard with a huge contract.
An NBA source said Tuesday the Nuggets are not pursuing Jason Kidd, who Monday told
ESPN.com his agent, Jeff Schwartz, has had continued conversations with Nets management about dealing Kidd before the Feb. 21 trade deadline.
ESPN.com reported the Nuggets in the last week called about Kidd. But the source said that was inaccurate.
Kidd, 34, is making $19.7 million this season and is due $21.4 million next season in the final year of his contract. The Nuggets are deep into the luxury tax and it's highly unlikely they would take on such a deal.
Asked about Kidd on Tuesday, Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien declined to comment.
The Nuggets, who play Memphis tonight, didn't practice Tuesday. Nuggets coach George Karl said after Monday's game in New Orleans, "I haven't had a conversation with Mark about" Kidd.
"We tried to make this work. We've found out it doesn't," Kidd told ESPN.com on Monday. "It's time for us all to move on."
Nets president Rod Thorn declined to discuss teams that have shown an interest in Kidd and said he wouldn't be forced into making a deal.
"The reality is we're only looking to make deals that make sense for us," Thorn said Tuesday. "If every time someone said, 'I want you to trade me,' you acquiesced, then you put yourself in a very vulnerable position because you have a revolving door."
Kidd is a nine-time All-Star. He led the Nets to the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, but they're 19-26 this season and in jeopardy of missing the playoffs.
NENE UPDATE: Two media outlets reported Nuggets forward Nene, who underwent testicular cancer surgery Jan. 14, likely will undergo chemotherapy, which would extend the time before his return.
ESPN reported Nene has been told chemotherapy could lessen the chances of cancer returning, and he likely will decide by Friday to have it.
Sporting News reported Nene likely will undergo two rounds of chemotherapy or radiation treatments that would push his return back several weeks.
A Nuggets official confirmed chemotherapy is one option but nothing has been decided and he still has more medical visits scheduled.
Karl expects Nene to return this season. Doctors have given scenarios on Nene's return ranging from a few weeks to a few months.

The Nuggets need to make this happen, and I say by trading straight up for AI. I do not question AI's effort, work ethic, willingness to win but he is not a team player, he is too playground and too one on one and he doesn't make his teammates better. The Superstars got theirs but they also made their teammates better. Everyone on the floor with AI just watches him dribble for 22 seconds and than forces up a shot.
Kidd would take the Nuggets to a new level by getting everyone involved. Than if they decide to play defense they could be the best in the west.
Probably wouldn't hurt to get rid of Karl, who looks disinterested at best and let AD, Adrian Dantley take over the team. He was awesome last year when he had the chance. THIS WOULD BE HUGE

Give me a break. Why would you trade Iverson strait up for J-Kidd? Is Kidd going to make up the points that Iverson supplies? No. So you're basically back at square one. Iverson is a SG, not a pure PG so the comparisons are unnecessary. I have been watching the Nuggets for years and Iverson passes the ball more then Carmelo, so if you're having a problem with him being a ball hogg then you must have a problem with Melo as well. I said this before, if Iverson leaves...it will hurt Denver more then it will Iverson, Iverson has certainly brought more attention to that Nuggets team then had he not come there...they have benefited off of his presence, more people are watching them because of his popularity alone. I don't think he is the problem of this team, nor do I want to see him go. Anyone that watches the Nuggets games can see that they play Iversons lead, so his "never say die" attitude is much needed.
I said before that I like J-Kidd, but he is not worth none of our big men (Camby, Nene and Kenyon) nor is he worth our big names (Iverson or Melo), if they could swing a deal without any of those names involved (which I doubt) then fine...otherwise, that team can wait for everyone to get healthy (which has been one of the biggest issues) and go from there. Fans need to stop trying to jump the gun so much and trade everyone on the roster....its not that serious.

Kidd doesn't score as much as Iverson very true, but those points will be made up for by Kidd creating and finding open teammates in areas they can be successful and the young kids will breakout. It's hard for Klieza and JR, etc to play well when they never know when they are going to get the ball, once every 9th possession. True Melo hogs the ball as well but he is young and can be taught, to pass more and rebound more. AI's "never say die attitude" is "hey, young guys, watch me dribble for the entire shot clock and force up a shot. If I make it great, if I don't, nobody is working with me" The Nuggets need a rhythm on offense and Kidd would provide that and get everyone involved. His passing would become contagious, just like Magic and Bird back in the day. When you get a chance to touch the ball on the offensive end once in awhile it will lead to you being more into the game and the entire team will play better defense. If you're about popularity contest and want to keep AI just because people follow the team more now than you probably don't care MLB players do steroids because the attendance is up. Kidd can bring the Nuggets to a championship level by sharing the ball, AI is a great one on one player and fills the seats but I believe it is not championship basketball. Ax Jordan before he started to pass the ball, Ax Bird and Magic. Ax Tracey McGrady who is like AI and is a good player but his teams haven't done anything.

HOPEFULLY THIS CAN HAPPEN BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS, IF IT DOSE YOU ALL WILL BE SO SORRY YOU HATED ON A GOOD TEAM WITH BAD HEALTH. WE GOT HUSTLERS AND PEOPLE THAT CAN PUT THE BALL IN THE HOLE AND PLAY D BUT IT GETS HARD WHEN ROLL PLAYERS ARE PLAYING 3 DIFFERENT ROLLS AT ONE TIME. ITS LIKE AN OWNER, DISHWASHER, AND A COOK RUNNING A RESTAURANT WITH NO WAITERS, ITS NOT GONNA BE A FLUID PROCESS. I don't think they would ever need Kidd. the problem with the Nuggets is defense. Not that they can't play it, they just play at about 70% and funnel everybody into Camby. The Knicks used to do the same thing with Ewing. There have been times when they have played defense as a team and then they look un-stopable. Melo and Iverson need to step it up on D. Also Kleiza needs more of Martin's minutes!!

It's not a talent thing, because they have plently of talent, it's a chemistry thing to an extent. You will never create chemistry with 4 guys watching AI dribble around for the entire shot clock. Get people healthy and that still doesn't change. AI dominates the ball. Kidd comes in, shares the ball makes everyone better, makes everyone on offense a threat to score, with the exception of Camby, and it's harder for the other team to defend 4 guys. Let AI dominate the ball you tell your defense guard AI and guard Melo, they are great scorers but it makes it easier for defenses to stop the Nuggets. Think about it. Even Jordan had to start passing the ball and trusting his teammates. How many championships has AI won?

It is a shame that the Nuggets won't make a move for Kidd. I like AI and think he is an amazing talent especially at under 6' which is probably he true height. But with that said, the Nuggets have got to make a change. AI+Melo is not working. The Nuggets need a true point guard, one who can make things happen night in and night out. AC has done a nice job gut it is not consistent. What do you get with the Nuggets with AI+Melo? Scoring and 65-70% of your shots. When they are on, it is beautiful but unfortunately this is an 82 game season and they are not on nearly as often as they are off. Kidd would distribute the ball, get everyone involved. Don't tell me that Kenyon Martin, Camby and Melo would not benefit from that.
This team is just too undisciplined on offense. It drives me crazy that they often lose focus and come down and jack a shot. AI and Melo both are so guilty of this. It is annoying when they are on and infuriating when they are not. What is worse, when they get down, out comes the 3 point bombers. Anytime JR Smith enters the game I just want to strangle Karl for subbing him in. He is the epitome of what just irritates me about the Nuggets, so talented but so very undisciplined.
If I hear one more imbecile rail on trading Camby, even to get the likes of Jason Kidd, I’m going to scream. He is the only one on this team who plays any defense. Martin is also a defensive player but he is not nearly what he used to be. Why would anyone want to see Camby gone? This team is horrible defensively and how much worse would they be without Camby? People all calling for George Karl’s head because of the disappointing season so far. We could have Jerry Sloan or Gregg Popovich here and this team would still be disappointing because the players are the reason why the record is what it is. Karl has preached defense and discipline but how much can a guy do when the players refuse to buy in.
If I’m in the Nuggets front office, I find a way to get Kidd. AI’s contract is up next year I believe so make a move. I’d move JR Smith and try to move, I hate to say it, Nene as well. This is nearly $40 million a year you are clearing if you could get out from under their contracts. Binging Kidd in for this would obviously take a lot of that cap but you’d have improved your offense by getting everyone involved in it. What a strange thought in a team game! Perhaps another shot at a big man would be the likes of Ben Wallace. The difference between Nene and him is simple; he consistently suits up and plays. I’ll take that over the potential because what is that potential getting the Nuggets now? Sadly I think the reasoning for AI in Denver has nothing to do with winning.

And Fresh, calling people morons who do not understand the game because they think trading AI for Kidd is a good idea, well that is ignorant. Yes AI is a better scorer. Yes AI can drop 20+ any given night. Yes AI is a bigger draw and a sexier player. I love the guy. However to think that the Nuggets can advance with two gunners on the team is ridiculius. Melo+AI is not working. The Nugget offense needs help, we don't need AI's scoring ability so much as a leader who runs the offense and hands out 1o+ assists every night. The Nuggets have scorers but when it comes down to a half court game, because we know they cannot always run on teams, Kidd would help make this team better by distributing to the open man. Why? Because he is thinking pass first, get it to the open man! AI, he is thinking score, score, score which more times then not turns into a 9-26 night shooting and another double digit night for the Nuggets. Yes I know, AI can have big assist nights but his first inclination is to break down the defense and score. Kidd brings a team mentality, AI, well he is a shoot first and score guy, first option! We have that first option already in Melo. It seems you blasting people for not knowing the game is pretty ignorant on your part.

Until the Nuggets learn to run the fast break consistantly, defend the "pick and roll", and rotate out on 3 point shooters, it won't matter who suits up for them. As Sir Charles said a few weeks back (and I don't really like him), the Nuggets are one of the most talented teams out there when healthy, but they play like they don't have a clue some nights.
