Comcast today announced it is closing down Denver-based AZN Network, which targets Asian Americans, as of April 9.
The closure will affect some 15 employees at AZN, although Comcast spokeswoman Kate Noel said the cable network is working to find them jobs elsewhere in the company.
AZN, which launched in March 2005, evolved from the International Channel. Comcast acquired the International Channel a year earlier as part of a stock swap with Liberty Media. AZN reaches about 13.9 million subscribers, mostly on Comcast's cable systems.
"This difficult decision was made after considerable review of the network's financial situation," Comcast said in a statement.
