No Avs will start in All-Star Game

Paul Stastny will have to wait until Thursday.
That’s when the Western Conference reserves for the NHL All-Star Game will be announced in a vote of the NHL’s operations department and general managers.
Though the University of Denver product has turned in some impressive performances this season, he was not chosen a starter for the Jan. 27 game.
The second-year player leads the Avalanche with 15 goals, 29 assists and 44 points.
The Detroit Red Wings, who were dominant in the first half of the NHL season, also dominated the Western Conference starters. The Wings are the second team in two years to place three players
in an All-Star starting lineup. The Buffalo Sabres did it last year for the East.
Detroit defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom led all vote-getters in the West with 477,787, trailing only Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, who led the East with 507,274.
Joining Lidstrom in the West starting lineup will be Red Wings teammates Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk. Lidstrom will partner with Calgary
Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf on the blue line, while the Flames’ Jarome Iginla will play up front with Zetterberg and Datsyuk.
Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo got the starting nod in goal for the West.
Crosby’s linemates in Atlanta will be current scoring leader Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators right winger Daniel Alfredsson.
The East defensive starters will be Andrei Markov of the Montreal Canadiens and Boston’s Zdeno Chara. Markov.
New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur was elected for the fourth time and will take part in his 10th All-Star game, tying Lidstrom for the most among this year’s starters
The rest of the Eastern Conference roster will be revealed Friday.
