If you want to help the 27 animals - including horses, llamas and a pot-bellied pig - seized during the weekend from an animal rescue ranch near Wellington, don't buy food.
The Larimer Humane Society and Larimer County sheriff's officials say the animals are on special diets and can eat only grass hay or items approved by veterinarians.
Monetary donations, however, may be made to Poudre Pet and Feed Supply, in person or on the phone, at 622 N. College Ave., 970-482-2741, or 6204 S. College Ave., 970-225-1255. Both stores are in Fort Collins.
Anyone interested in fostering or adopting the animals, or donating other supplies, should contact the Humane Society at 970-226-3647, ext. 383.
The malnourished animals were seized Saturday from Animal Angels Horse Rescue run by Alesha Matchett, who faces numerous misdemeanor animal cruelty charges.
The 46 animals remaining at the property are being monitored.
