The clientele was wealthy and the drugs and sex plentiful at after-hours parties at an exclusive Denver squash and social club, a former prostitute named in a federal investigation says.
The former prostitute, whose name wasn't revealed, told her story to Brian Maass of CBS 4 News.
"Basically, there was a lot of drug use, drinking, almost orgy- type stuff going on," she said of the late-night gatherings at the Denver Club, 518 17th St., which is where Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and many business and political leaders play squash.
The former prostitute said that women were paid about $2,000 to have sex with numerous men. Men paid about $300 an hour for sex.
"People were having sex on the pool table, couches . . . in the locker room, in the steam room," she told CBS 4 News.
Denver Club President Peter Marayne said that neither he nor the board of directors had any knowledge of the parties and "would never sanction these kinds of parties."
In a statement Thursday, club officials said, "The behaviors alleged in the news report would never be condoned by the Denver Club."
Federal and local law officers shut down two escort companies last month - Denver Players, which is where the woman who spoke to CBS 4 News worked, and a second company, Denver Sugar.
They seized search warrants and bank accounts from several locations in Denver. A grand jury is investigating.
The woman said that professional athletes, doctors, downtown lawyers and others also used the prostitution services of Denver Players.
One night at the Denver Club, some of the women found a robe in the locker room belonging to Hickenlooper and took turns wearing it, the woman said. Hickenlooper was never at the parties in question, she said.

Now this is a lot better than those silly stories about a dog or those hate filled sillies at CU. Some of these guys may have graduated from CU. Hickenlooper on the 'phone to his wife explaining and Ritter frustrated in the Guv's mansion wishing he could crack some more crime.

Let us all come together and beat prostitution once and for all time; make society free to love, without rules, order morals, etc.. The kinky, and the stinky, preachers and prostitutes, politicians and the people, everybody free to fornicate without license. Let us just kick the closet door off it's hinges, so all acts of debauchery are without blemish of character. Let us fornicate until sex has no value, meaning, or price; "It's all goods!", intead of "In God we trust", as our country's new, progressive motto of our future. What canidate do I vote for to achieve this eutopia?

I am surprised so many of you are taking the word of an annoymous hoar. She? is probably looking for her fifteen minutes or diming innocent people to beat her own rap. The feds are involved because they smell R.I.C.O. Maybe Senator Vitters' name will show up.

Gambling has been approved by the state. Alcohol, one seen as contributing to the downfall of society, is now taxed and approved by the state. Now prostitution is in the dock and being looked at. Nevada has gambling AND prostitution and NO state income tax. Maybe our politicians are researching for some societal changes in the near future. One can only hope. Perhaps we can induce some more California honeys (both sexes to service Fort Collins, Aspen and Boulder) to move to Colorado.

I don't think that having sex with, or being a prostitute in a health club deserves "unending pain for all eternity." Prostitution should be legal. Prostitutes and the men who solicit them deserve each other. Legal prostitution would decrease it's taboo, and probably less people would partake in it.
