Police have found the mother of the baby girl who died after being left in a basket outside a Denver hospital Tuesday.
"We're in contact with her," Detective Sharon Hahn, spokeswoman for Denver police, said Thursday. "She's cooperating with the investigation."
The woman has not been arrested and police declined to identify her.
Tuesday evening, police were called to Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital, where someone had pushed the call button on the help box at the hospital.
A security guard found an infant girl in a basket, and took her inside the hospital. She was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
It was not known Thursday whether the mother came forward on her own or whether someone had tipped off the police.
"Whichever way it came about, we're thankful," Hahn said.
Results of an autopsy are pending.
Under Colorado's "safe haven" law, a parent is not held liable if a live baby is taken to either a fire station or a hospital within 72 hours after birth. However, the baby must be handed to a firefighter or a hospital worker.

What does ,Where in contact with her ,mean?Does this mean they are talking on the phone with her?If she is " cooperating"does this mean she has told them yes I left my baby out in the cold.Either way, whether the baby was dead for some reason or died because of her dropping her off.Under Colorado law she should be charged with something, right?
Oh,I forgot this is in Denver. You can pretty much get away with murder. It would just be too much for the D.A.'s office to actually do anything to baby killers. It's one of those ,to hard to prosecute cases ,where the D.A.'s office has such a laid back, lazy wok ethic, they don't care about anything except the really big cases.this is only a baby.Just like Neveah,no harm ,no foul, move on.

"Voodoo Mom," huh? While I agree with you about the Denver DA, you have NO idea what the circumstances were and are in this case. Sometimes things die ... just because you seem to think every fetus has the right to vote doesn't mean you have any clue about this case...

seeingeyeseesall.....no matter what the circumstancesis, were, or could have been, all she had to do was take another fifty steps and the baby will be alive today and she will not be on the police radar, yes, you are right on some of the things that you pointed out , we dont know what the baby died from, nor what time. if she is giving her baby up, then see that the child is in good hands, i dont know all thats involved in this case either so i'm going to keep my thoughts to myself until all the facts come out, and believe me, i'm pro children (love them-i have 9 myself) so other than what i have commented on i reserve to be heard from later

Had this baby been a Bronco's player gunned down on New Year's..........but no, not a high profile case so I doubt we will hear about it again, just like Neveah (has anyone heard about this case again??)
Regardless of when/or how the baby died the woman who gave birth (not referring to her as a mom on purpose) needs to be charged. The law is specific, walk in and hand the baby to someone. Why go all the way to the hospital, just to drop the baby off at the corner? Guilt because it was already dead?
I'm sure once she is charged we will find out what a "hard life she had, drugs, raped, drinking, no father oh and probably bi-polar or ADD".
People make me sick!

I am a scared grandma. I have had to take on my three grandsons because my daughter only thinks of herself. She was charged two years ago with child abuse so they took her sons away. However, now she has a 2 1/2 month old little girl, she could be abusing because we got a call from the DHS just two weeks ago asking us if we where her parents. I have to agree with you on the fact that the DA in Denver only cares about the big name cases. When I heard about this I was, scared it was my granddaughter, still to this day I do not know if it was or not. Why? Because they will not give information out on the mother to protect her rights. WHAT ABOUT THE BABY GIRLS RIGHT?????????
