Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo

* Rated: R

* Running time: 92 minutes

* Stars: Dian Bachar, Arj Barker, Lawrence Brooke, Les Claypool, * Plot: Think This Is Spinal Tap for jam bands, as a filmmaker sets out to make a documentary as Electric Apricot grows from playing coffee shops to playing Festeroo.

* Of note: Electric Apricot marks the directorial debut of Primus' Les Claypool.

* What the critics said: "(This) laid-back mockumentary . . . generates enough mild humor to keep the spoof rolling, but lacks the commitment and scope, not to mention the originality, of a This Is Spinal Tap," writes Ronnie Scheib of Variety.

Diva

* Rated: R

* Running time: 118 minutes

* Stars: Frederic Andrei, Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez

* Plot: It's a new 35mm print of the 1982 French film about a Parisian postman who, while trying to tape an opera superstar who refuses

to be recorded, is pulled into a

plot with police by a doomed

prostitute. Eventually he's

chased by cops, mobsters and record pirates, all while he tries to woo the unattainable opera star.

* Of note: Buy a ticket at the Starz FilmCenter and you can also see the Marx Brothers' A Night at the Opera at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

* What the critics said: "The movie that seemed delightfully fizzy on its 1982 US release now feels like threadbare gossamer," writes Ty Burr of the Boston Globe. "If you go in expecting nothing but style, though, you'll be all right. It's period style now, and the period is high early-'80s."
