WAIT IS WORTH IT
"We now have so many women in the legislature there's a line in the bathroom. I love it."
Rep. Alice Borodkin, D-Denver
HOT BILLS
Bills introduced Wednesday would:
* Require any single-family or multifamily home offered for sale after July 1 that has a fuel-burning heater or appliance, a fireplace or an attached garage to have a carbon monoxide alarm installed near sleeping quarters.
* Allow a judge to consider DNA evidence of parentage in child-support cases and require a judge to terminate child support if test results show a man is not the child's biological parent.
BOARD SILLY
Rep. Andy Kerr, D-Lakewood, is demanding some R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
Kerr said he's been the butt of jokes just because he's a snowboarder.
"I would say viciously attacked by jokes, such as 'What do you call a snowboarder with no girlfriend?' "
"The Speaker of the House?" asked House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, D-Denver. "Is that the joke? It's just a guess."
Kerr said he picked up the "disturbing habit" in high school several decades ago. "You skiers are tied down with your two skis and your two poles and your big clumsy boots while we shush past you in the powder."
On tap today:
* 8 a.m. - Joint Select Committee on Constitutional Reform reviews recommendations to improve Colorado's future.
* 9 a.m.- House and Senate convene.
* Senate takes final vote on a bill to mandate healthy drinks in school vending machines and cafeterias.
* After morning recess
* House Transportation & Energy Committee hears a bill to better protect state highway workers.
