Congressman Mark Udall asked federal officials Tuesday to resolve their disagreements over who has authority to remove up to 1 billion gallons of water trapped in the Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel.
The Eldorado Springs Democrat said there had been enough "finger pointing" among federal agencies and that it was time to find a long-term solution.
"Let's move ahead and solve this thing," Udall told Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Robert Johnson.
Lake County officials declared an emergency over fears that water pressure in the tunnel could cause a blowout.
