Karen Leigh, the morning show anchor for WCCO in Minneapolis since 2004, will join CBS 4 as co-anchor with Jim Benemann.

CBS 4 will introduce a new anchor and a new on-screen look April 27.

Karen Leigh, most recently a morning news personality on WCCO- TV in Minneapolis, will team with Jim Benemann on the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts. She replaces Molly Hughes, who will work on special news projects.

The new look will be an HD format that will be featured on the station's nearly 30 hours of weekly newscasts. CBS will become the second Denver outlet to produce local newscasts in high definition; 9News made the switch in April of 2004.

Leigh's move to CBS 4, rumored earlier this month, will end her 31/2-year association with WCCO, which, like CBS 4, is owned by CBS.

Prior to joining WCCO, Leigh anchored newscasts in her hometown, Little Rock, Ark., and worked as a reporter in Nashville, Tenn., where she won two regional Emmys.

Leigh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Arkansas State University.

Leigh, who was unavailable for comment, said in prepared statement: "It's been a great 31/2 years for me at WCCO . . . yet I'm so excited to be going to CBS 4."

What!?!?!? -- not a blonde? Shocking. There must be some mistake -- don't they have to be blonde -- all the others seem to be.

Brainwash implies some actual plan and purpose, the current attitude is more about brain numbing. Britany gets more coverage than the economy and political coverage consists mainly of fashion commentary and who cries best. She is cute though.

Why would we be subjected to "brain numbing" without a pupose? Should we just go on with our lives saying,"Yeah, my brain is numb, but that's ok." Or should we be asking, "Why is my brain numb?"

i love turning on the weekend a.m. news, there's always an asian, an 'african american, a female, and/or a hispanic.......gosh,........ are these news teams being hired for their ABILITY which is how it is supposed to be, or are they being hired based on ethnicity? I think the answer is obvious here. Wouldn't it be a hell of a coincidence that the 4 best qualified at a news desk also happen to be all different ethnicity? Yah, I dont think so. If you are a white male, you need not apply.

Great, another import who knows nothing about Denver and will take 10 years to learn the difference between 17th Street and 17th Avenue, that Wheat Ridge is two words and that it isn't Westminister.

Is there anyone on Denver TV news who grew up in Denver and knows what life was like here before DIA, the 16th Street Mall or Pepsi Center?
