MediaNews offers buyouts in S.F. area

The partnership that publishes 16 newspapers in the San Francisco area - including Denver-based MediaNews Group Inc. - offered buyouts to 1,100 employees as part of an effort to slash costs.
The cuts involve publications including the Contra Costa Times and the Oakland Tribune, the Contra Costa publication said today on its Web site.
