A young data-storage company in Westminster plans to more than triple its work force over the next 10 months, having landed $18 million in funding.

"We plan to add another 100 people between now and the end of the year," said Dan McCormick, CEO of Atrato Inc.

The company, which currently has about 40 full-time employees, is looking mainly for engineers but also staffers for product management, sales and marketing.

McCormick said Atrato's software and hardware are designed to help business and government users manage, access and organize large amounts of data.

The company is targeting cable TV companies, large corporations, so-called Web 2.0 operators such as YouTube, and government agencies.

Atrato was founded in Minneapolis in 2004. The company moved to Colorado in 2005.

Atrato counts a number of data-storage veterans among its investors, including StorageTek founder Jesse Aweida.
