AT&T to handle wireless for DNC

The Democratic National Convention Committee named AT&T this morning as the official wireless service provider for the party's convention in August.
AT&T's agreement with the DNCC will require it to provide smart devices, hardware, software and air cards that allow direct connection to the Internet.
Leah Daughtry, CEO of the DNCC, said in a statement the partnership would provide reliability in a wireless age.
"Without a seamless, reliable wireless communications network to connect our convention team during those critical four days, all of this advance planning would be for naught," she said. "That's why we are so pleased to welcome AT&T to our team. I have no doubt their state-of-the-art technology will provide dependable wireless service for us during the coming months and throughout Convention week."
The deal comes a couple of weeks after Denver-based Qwest was named by the DNCC as the official telecommunications provider for the convention.
In the DNCC statement, it highlighted some of the reasons why AT&T was selected — including that it is the largest wireless carrier in the country with 70.1 million wireless customers.
AT&T has invested more than $130 million on Colorado network improvements and the company is one of the only wireless workforces in the country to be largely unionized. Of the company's 309,000 employees, about 60 percent are members of unions such as the Communications Workers of America or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
The convention will be at the Pepsi Center Aug. 25-28.

Ok so finally those of us who signed up with Cingular and service was bought by AT&T can finally get decent service in the METRO area. We can name the places in town like Peoria and Mississippi just try to make a call while at the light it always says network failure or you lose the call. How about on Thronton parkway same thing. Hopefully this will help AT&T get their act together in Colorado.
