RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME
State Sen. Brandon Shaffer got plenty of face time on TV this week with the news that Colorado U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar is going to be Barack Obama's Interior secretary.
Both Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow on their MSNBC shows used the same footage, showing Salazar greeting Shaffer, a Longmont Democrat, at an event.
IT'S ACCURATE, BUT...
"I don't want to sound like I'm whining, but I really think a headline that reads 'DA poised to get $32,000 raise next year' is not very fair . . . Maybe my headline is 'Denver DA poised to catch up on lost salary from last four years.' Obviously that's not going to be the headline, but I'm bringing a little different perspective."
Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey, reacting to a headline on RockyMountainNews.com
DRESSING THE PART
Getting your foot in the door can be hard if your shoe is shabby. A nonprofit group called Dress for Success is holding a holiday clothes drive to help fulfill its mission: providing deserving female job seekers with the clothes and accessories they need to put on a professional appearance in a job interview. Drop off your gently used women's suits, shoes and handbags at Maggiano's restaurant in the Denver Pavilions every day through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.

There is no amount of money too great to retain Mitch Morrissey. His department has pioneered new techniques in criminal apprehension that have saved taxpayers a lot more money than he is being paid. In the corporate world, his pay would be based on that fact, but in the public world, it is constricted due to budget limitations.
I heard Mitch Morrissey and Mayor H. speak at the annual Mensa convention, which was held in Denver, and they were both first rate speakers right up there with Obama. These two make a great impression in representing Denver.
