Pretenders, Pink Floyd laser show spruce up '09 concert lineup

A little life is being breathed into the 2009 concert calendar at last. On sale this week:
* PARAMOUNT THEATRE - The Pretenders play Feb. 24 on the great new album Break Up the Concrete, $42.50 to $64.50. The Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular is Feb. 28, $25; and Chick Corea and John McLaughlin and their 5 Peace Band are set for March 25, $44.50 to $84.50. All go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through TicketHorse.
* OGDEN THEATRE - Joe Banamassa brings the blues to the Ogden on March 13, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. today, $25 and $70. The Disco Biscuits do two nights Feb. 13 and 14, also on sale at 10 a.m. today, $26.50 (Ticketmaster).
* ORIENTAL THEATRE - Tickets are on sale now for Barrington Levy, Jan. 30, $20; Abigail Washburn, Feb. 4, $20; Tab Benoit, Feb. 6 and 7, $20; Will Bernard Band with Andy Hess, John Medeski and Stanton Moore, March 22, $20; and comedian Doug Stanhope on May 30, $20. All tickets are on sale now through TheOrientalTheatre.com.
* TEMPLE BUELL THEATRE - Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Sunday for the musical Chicago, running from Feb. 3 to 8. Tickets range from $20 to $225 (DenverCenter.org).
RUMORS AND HEARSAY: Mania over Britney Spears tickets has grown so much that she's added dates worldwide, including eight nights in London. No Denver show is planned . . . Dr. John at Red Rocks on Aug. 8 with Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk.
