He Said It

"Even (with) the great month of November, I think all of us still in our gut have the 4-0 (playoff) sweep by the Lakers last year hanging over our heads and knowing that what we were doing last year wasn't good enough. And this is our stage to prove that we've changed."

George Karl, whose team won 12 games through November even though Karl's "optimistic side was 11."

Two coaches from Rodney Rogers' Nuggets days are saddened to hear of the accident Saturday in which Rogers was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle.

Dan Issel, coach the first 11/2 years of Rogers' Nuggets stint from 1993 to 1995, has been told Rogers has yet to respond to anyone.

"I've talked to a couple of people who said . . . he's broken his neck and is paralyzed right now, but they didn't know if it was temporary or permanent," Issel said. "It's a terrible situation."

Mike Evans, now a Toronto assistant, was a Denver assistant when the 6-foot-7, 255-pound forward played.

"I can't even imagine something like that happening to a guy that strong and agile and that size," Evans said. "I'm really saddened."

ANTHONY'S WOES

Nuggets coach George Karl said a right elbow contusion has been a factor in Carmelo Anthony shooting only 40.4 percent.

"I don't think there's any question, you having a pain in your elbow, that it would affect your shooting," said Karl, who has "told my coaches he looks like he's turning his body more on the shot."

Karl said other factors are teams keying on Anthony and the Nuggets emphasizing defense more in training camp.

I remember Roger's 3-three's with less than 15-20 seconds in the game, and the Nuggets winning the game from that.

My thoughts & Prayers go out to Rodney and his Family. Rodney was one of the bright spot for some really bad Nuggets teams. I too ride ATV's and know the danger they present even when you are careful all it takes is a wet tree root or a small stump and accident can happen.
