House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the convention stage this afternoon with several dozen Democratic women serving with her in the House of Representatives to mark the Denver convention as the first in which women are a majority of delegates.
And, Pelosi noted, Denver was also the site 100 years ago where the Democratic Party first admitted women as delegates to its national convention.
At that convention, held in the Denver Municipal Auditorium at 15th and Curtis streets, there were five female delegates including two for Colorado. One was prominent Colorado suffragist Mary C.C. Bradford.
“To the 2,170 woman delegates at this convention, this is our convention,” Pelosi said. “To women across America, this is our party. And to all Americans, Barack Obama is our chance to deliver the change we need.”
Of 71 women serving in the 435-member House of Representatives, 52 are Democrats and 19 are Republicans.

You mean Obama told Pelosi what the "changes" are? Knowing Pelosi, that was pretty stupid on his part. Also, she's got to be the only one who knows, because every Obama supporter I know hasn't got a clue as to what the "changes" will be and all they know how to speak is in generalities just like the idiot they want to elect.

Hey Keith43, you're the one who appears to be an idiot. Obama is going to end this silly war, get us women equal pay for equal work, and cut tax breaks to these money-hording oil companies. McCain represents the Bush Administration; one of the worst administrations of all times.

I spent the 90's getting in touch with my feminine side... but no matter how hard I tried... I just couldn't bring myself to vote Democrat.
Thank you Nancy, for outing the party.

What an idiot! There are more women in attendance because of Hillary. Who Bela Pelosi gleefully stabbed in the back. If she had any concern for women she would not have insisted that super delegates vote for M T Suit and let them vote their conscience. Like Box of Rocks Boxer, and Feinstein, she is where she is because of a very wealthy, successful husband who will spare no expense to make sure that these dopes spend 90% of their time 3000 miles from home, passing government programs to increase their wealth (subsidies for natural gas, military supply contracts, etc.) . Those guys didn't get where they are being stupid. One learned all they need to know about bela's intellectual horsepower by reading her explanation of The Catholic Church's position of abortion. Her only strength is that she dresses faultlessly (except for the "We are all Palestinians, burka). Once again a tribute to the old man's success and money.
