PEPSI CENTER -- A fourth generation Hispanic woman from California placed Hillary Clinton’s name in nomination before the Democratic National Convention this afternoon, calling the candidate her friend and champion.
“Hillary’s values are the values of my family and of the community,” said Dolores Huerta of Bakersfield. “We believe that those who do back-breaking work for low wages deserve a champion, someone who will fight for them.”
But even as she nominated Clinton, she acknowledged Barack Obama.
“For many in America, working families are invisible,” Huerta said. “For Hillary Clinton, no American is invisible. I stand with Hillary as she stands with Barack Obama to take our country back.”
The hall wasn’t even half-filled as the process began. Most delegates missed the speech and the two seconding speeches that followed.
Huerta alluded to Clinton’s long primary battle with Obama.
“The coalition of 18 million people from all walks of life and all backgrounds who stood with Hillary and never gave up,” she said. “The Hispanic community participated in historic numbers and Hispanics will be a pivotal voice in the election of our next president. We Hispanics have made history this year and it is only the beginning.”

I salute my sisters. We are in this together to win back our democracy and turn our country -- which now hovers on the brink of bankruptcy because of Bush administration policies of fear, division, repression and greed -- toward the future promised for all humankind in the Declaration of Indendence.
To the next generation: Yes, we can!

I am a longtime GOP member, but last year changed my affiliation to independent. I want to say, that I truly believe our country can be better, we can all coexist and embrace our differences.
I HONESTLY BELIEVE that Obama can start this movement.
Please, let's not squander this opportunity to make our neighborhoods, our cities, our states, our country and our world a better place.
God Bless Barack Obama.....
