The Flobots perform at the Denver Coliseum on Wednesday in Denver.

DENVER COLISEUM -- They’re seemingly playing every show at the DNC this week, but at least the Flobots get to sleep in their own beds every night. That beats a tour bus and hotels.

But the reception here has been mixed here at home, as the band has played to delegates and politicos more than Flobot fans, said rapper Brer Rabbit, aka Stephen Brackett.

Not the case at the Coliseum - the band hit the stage about 1 p.m. to a packed floor and adoring crowd.

"A lot of times we’ll go into more conservative states and we’re a little uneasy at first. When we come into these rooms we find people receptive, regardless. It’s been very surprising for me," Brackett said in a pre-show interview.

"We’ve seen crowds even more excited in the red states than the blue states. Were tapping into those people in those states who are particularly fed up," said bassist Jesse Walker

And that, Brackett said, is a constant across the country.

"People say 'Thank you for saying this' or 'Right on.' The cohesion is incredible across a large spectrum of people– from young activists to elders who’ve been politically minded for a very long time…a lot of people are on the same page in a way they haven’t been in a long time."
