The Denver Coliseum fills up for the Rage Against the Machine concert Aug. 27.
DENVER COLISEUM -- The way Victoria Wallace sees it, rap-metal band Rage Against the Machine is simply following in the footsteps of those great noise-making, parent-irritating authority-questioning bands of the past -- the Ramones, the Clash, the Sex Pistols.
She sees it in songs like "Maggie's Farm," in which the band rages: "Well I try my best / To be just like I am / But everybody wants you / To be just like them."
"They have a good message," said Wallace, 20, from New York. "They know what they're about. They know who they are."
Hundreds of fans are still pouring in to the Denver Coliseum as Tent State University's free concert featuring the 19-year-old Los Angeles band continues. Lower-bill act State Radio has begun its set.
The concert, dubbed "The Tent State Music Festival to End the War," is being held with Iraq Veterans Against the War.
The message resonates with some of the concertgoers -- such as Joey Minicucci, 18, from Colorado, whose brother is in Iraq and who has been protesting with groups across Denver this week.
Minicucci's parents are OK with his protesting, and with his love of Rage Against the Machine, he said.
"They do not disagree with me protesting," he said. "My dad knows all the Rage songs because of my brother and me."

you call yourself "wholesome" and "honest" in the same breath that you call strangers "scumbags" and say that you hope cops bash in veterans' heads? Wow.
And can I just say that it really doesn't seem like you're working too hard, if you have time to post this BS in the middle of a workday! I'm laughing just thinking about you, sitting in front of a computer, protesting protesters, typing outrageous comments about veterans. Hiding behind a screen really brings the courage out, huh?
It's too bad for McCain and the Republican party, and any other entity that would find themselves associated with you and your message.
