CIVIC CENTER Actress and activist Daryl Hannah spoke about one thing today – the importance of change.
Hannah made an appearance at Civic Center just before 2 p.m. to speak on behalf of The Backbone Campaign, an organization that “promotes progressive change,” according to Executive Director Bill Moyer.
“We know there is no growth without change,” Hannah told the crowd. “Voting is the very least we can do.”
Hannah’s presence drew a crowd of a few hundred people – filling the Greek Amphitheater with substantially more people than other speakers saw today. She skipped onto the stage in calf-high brown boots and a gray dress while the crowd cheered and she launched into a short, five-minute speech.
“You guys are our solution superheroes driven by passion and compassion and common sense,” Hannah said, adding that everyday choices can have a profound impact.
The Backbone Campaign was founded by Moyer in 2004 and originally focused on awarding people who “stood up to Bush,” Moyer said.
“It’s not just about opposing but about proposing,” Moyer explained, “People need to push politicians to change.”
Hannah plans to do a question and answer tomorrow at the Convention Center and said she is focused primarily on sustainability issues such as less reliance on fossil fuels, taking personal responsibility and stopping deforestation. She plans to leave Denver tomorrow afternoon.
“There is so much going on in this city right now – it’s really exciting,” Hannah said.

Daryl Hanna?? Didn't she retire?? Typical Hollyweirdos showing up for this "Trash Denver" spectacle!
Why would anyone think that people who play-act in front of cameras, bang on musical intruments and spit out songs into a microphone are going to sway people to cast a vote for the candidate the entertainer chooses to support??
Cmon!!! No voter with any amount of intelligence is going to take these over-paid over-hyped so-called celebs seriously!!!
Barf!!!
