LIKE, UH, WHERE IS THIS THING HAPPENING?
Extra! was amused to be given a black-and-white photocopy of a come-on for a protest about marijuana while we were walking on the 16th Street Mall the other day. Amused, because the little handbill is all but illegible. Good luck with that protest, dude.
THE SLOVENIAN STORY
Matjaz Klemencic, a visiting professor at CSU-Pueblo, is plumbing the rich history of Slovenians in Pueblo for a book.
Klemencic, a professor at the University of Maribor in Slovenia, previously wrote a book on the Slovenian community in Leadville.
Pueblo's steel mills pulled in workers from about every ethnic group imaginable, friends and foes alike. Extra! wonders how the Croatians, Serbs, Montenegrins, et al., will feel about the spotlight being shone on the Slovenians. Ah, the echoes of the Old Country.
ART ON THE GO
Boom, Denver's only itinerant co-op gallery, is ready for its sophomore voyage. Featuring contemporary Denver artists, Boom is a gallery built in the back of a 26-foot truck that takes the art to the people, right on the street. The colorful caravan will make appearances at a number of downtown venues around the Democratic National Convention.

In reference to our handbill: I drew up the original, but several different versions have been made. Due to lack of funds we have had to print mostly small and b&w ones. You apparently were able to glean the relevant details from it, but the important thing (for you) is that you were able to riff on its existence to express disdain at marijuana. "Dude", we are making our own luck with regard to our march. While we would certainly appreciate some more, thoughtful coverage of our cause, we have no reason to expect much from you. Democrats and Allies Against the Prohibition of Marijuana will march from Lincoln Park at 12th St. and Mariposa to Invesco Field along the approved route at 2PM on Thursday, Aug. 28. We hold a permit for the march, and expect not to be maced or falsely arrested. BYOB.
