CAPLIS: If Obama loses, the Dems are in trouble

The last great party on the Titanic was a grand affair. It was thrown by a millionaire to honor the captain of the “unsinkable” ship. As the rich and famous lavished praise on the captain, the vessel steamed toward its doom. The party went from elation to destruction in the blink of an eye.
Welcome to Denver, Capt. Obama. Millionaires are throwing a lavish ball in your honor. The revelers believe your ship is indestructible. But if you lose this election, the party is over.
Liberal Robert Redford recently told an audience that if Obama doesn’t win, “you can kiss the Democratic Party goodbye.” Sundance is right. If the Democratic Party can’t win the White House this time, it will prove that the party has moved too far left to win.
There will be a massive upheaval, and many will desert the sinking ship. Whether it will be relaunched from a solid foundation of center-right traditional values remains to be seen.
But the ship as we know it is going down. Evan Bayh predicted its demise in 2003 when he prophesized that “the Democratic Party is in danger of being taken over by the far left.”
Far-left industrial and Internet goliaths like George Soros and Daily Kos rule with an iron fist. If you want to be president you must kneel before them and parrot their orders on even the most radical positions.
Because Obama was willing to do that, he is the nominee and Hillary is not. But it also means that he will lose, and the party will go under.
Obama and the Democratic Party have moved too far left on too many core issues, including national security (too weak), the economy (won’t drill and will tax), gay marriage (will force it on states), and abortion (condemned ban on partial-birth abortion, opposed law protecting babies born alive after failed abortions).
This convention will likely be the Democrats last big bash before the party sinks. America, including traditional Democrats, will be better off when it’s gone.

Once again, you simply confabulate perfunctory canards from the far right-wing. Win or lose, the Democratic Party is not going anywhere. Their existence is vital to the survival of this great nation, if merely to counterbalance the fascist, dictatorial views of the extreme right-wing.
The Democratic Party has traditionally been, and continues to be, the party of the middle class, the working class. While, the Republican Party has allowed itself to be swayed from true conservative values, to the elitist values of the Neo-cons; where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
The general public might not have liked the tax and spend reputation of the previous Democratic Party, but they truly abhor the borrow and spend policies of our current administration, and the abysmal debt that we will now need to pass on to future generations.
The Republican Party seems to have moved too far to the right with their Privatize Profits and Socialize Losses ideologies, their War rather than Diplomacy dogma, and their disregard for the privacy of the citizenry (whether that be in denying a woman’s right to choose or simply talking on the telephone or surfing the web.)
The Democratic Party will not die, because if it did we would certainly drift into a totalitarian regime like that of the old USSR, and none of us want that.

As for AmericanPatriot.. .sounds like quite a misnomer to me..
How can you be a patriot where you champion the party of socialism? Socialize losses.. puny compared to the 56% of our entire Federal Budget going towards "entitlements" and the upper 50% of all tax payers are paying 97% of that. .
America was founded on individual liberty and prosperity. For every American that prospers, we are all uplifted by that amount.
No where did our founders endorse or encourage taking by force from the producers of this society (what you call 'the rich') and giving it to the poor...
In fact all of them to the man said "Don't make poverty comfortable"..
Obama and McCain are two different heads of the same Party of increasing government authority. Income taxes, mandated mercury filled light bulbs, cap and trade? I think America could survive quite well, quite peacefully without the socialists amongst us...
Good article Danny..

pa•tri•ot
–noun
1. a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.
2. a person who regards himself or herself as a defender, esp. of individual rights, against presumed interference by the federal government.
Father O'Malley: Your Libertarian views are noted, and respected. Unfortunately in today's society they simply aren't practical. However, I am a middle-of-the road kind of guy, and like weighing the pros and cons of each issue. But, if our country is going to be leaning one way or the other, I prefer it lean more towards socialism, rather than fascism.
T1anda: I agree with you, we need to be teaching everyone to fish. Education is vital to our nation's interests. I too am reminded of an old saying, "I hope that someday our schools will have all of the funding that they need, and the military will need to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber."
