ENGLEWOOD The Broncos need to pare the roster to 75 by Tuesday afternoon but got a head start Monday by releasing receivers Samie Parker and Lorne Sam and defensive tackle Josh Mallard.
The team is expected to move rookie defensive tackle Carlton Powell to injured reserve Tuesday, leaving one more pending cut.
Parker was part of the Broncos' offseason free-agent crop but never gained traction in Denver's receiver battle, even with Marshall's upcoming suspension.
Marshall, Royal, Jackson, Keary Colbert, Brandon Stokley and even Cliff Russell were getting more snaps in recent weeks. The team further pared the receiver group by cutting Sam, an undrafted free agent out of Texas-El Paso.
Mallard joined the Broncos on Nov. 6 and played eight games, with 20 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks.
The emergence of Nic Clemons and Kenny Peterson as the top interior backups made him expendable.

I thought Pittman finally looked like the back the Broncos were hoping to get. I hope he does make this team but thats a lot of running backs to carry.

Squatch, I think Pittman will stay. He wasn't bad in preseason. I think we will keep our RB's. There are other positions that will go, 1st. Dada might get cut. I would say goodbye to Clifford Russell. We will know in the next hour or so. Can you believe that Hall actually thought he got cut? He saw a 303 area code # on his cell and thought it was work. He went to clean out his locker and someone asked him "Andre, what are you doing here"? He realized it was his own phone call from his girlfriends house. COME ON, ANDRE! YOU AREN"T GOING ANYWHERE!!!! Too funny. Pierce or Mustard might go. We don't need 5 TE's.

Hey everyone, if you read all the article it states that Carlton Powell was moved to the IR so that's an additional spot, so there is only one more cut coming today (Tuesday).
