Sheryl Crow at Red Rocks: 'Hope is important'

RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE — The stars are all here, with Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Dave Matthews and political heavyweights.

Crow hit the stage ready to rock, getting a huge response for her song "A Change Could Do You Good" — the perfect theme for a political movement based on change.

"It’s been a long time since we’ve had a leader that inspires the best in us," Crow said, telling the crowd to ignore the negative ads portraying the change movement as naive. "It's important that the highest office in the land be held by someone who inspires greatness in us and inspires hope. Hope is important, and it's what this country is based on."

The "green" concert was started with an idea from Mayor John Hickenlooper and environmental activist Laurie David. Both of whom spoke onstage. Crow immediately signed on; David approached Sugarland, the members of which have been longtime green supporters. Hickenlooper himself approached Matthews, as the two have a relationship after the Katrina benefits at Red Rocks in 2005. Also on hand: Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia, Sen. Ken Salazar and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

  I guess the fact that Hawaii is the U.S. hasn't entered into Bobby_Jones' mind. So sad. Barrack Obama is the best thing that could happen to the U.S. Given that McBush supports giving away more of Colorado's water and doesn't even know how many homes he has, Obama is the clear choice.

  I'm ready for change on the Supreme Court. I'm ready to have my privacy respected again.

  That's not communism - that's freedom. Have we been without it so long that we've forgotten?

  Don't stand too close behind Crow if she follows her one sheet rule. Talent but not too smart. making a political choice based on the fact a man married a rich woman is real smart. He's in the middle of a hot campaign and an off the wall question about how many houses he has probably the last thing on his mind. He's given a lot to this country. I don't care where Obama was raised, his ideas are what bothers me, and his wife's. To say she wasn't too proud of her country was off the wall, I've always been proud of the country, we just have had some idiots running the place.
