Protesters and media surround Fox News anchor Griff Jenkins during a protest outside the Capitol in Denver today.
STATE CAPITOL — Security at an anti-war rally outside the state Capitol this morning allegedly had to break up a confrontation between a Fox News reporter and Ward Churchill, a former University of Colorado professor who caused an uproar when he called victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks "little Eichmanns."
Churchill, who was thrust into the national spotlight after writing a controversial essay in which he compared the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks to Nazi bureaucrat Adolf Eichmann, was hounded by the persistent reporter, who allegedly put his hands on Churchill, organizer Glenn Spagnuolo said.
The reporter, Griff Jenkins, could not be immediately reached for comment.
In video footage of the incident, demonstrators surrounded Jenkins after the alleged confrontation between the reporter and Churchill.
"We're not going to stand for your lies," a demonstrator yells.
Spagnuolo said the reporter put his hands on Churchill.
The reporter "decided he wanted to be part of the news instead of reporting the news and wanted to mix it up with Ward Churchill for some reason," Spagnuolo said.
Spagnuolo said the reporter got out of hand.
"Our security pushed him away from (Churchill) because nobody touches Ward while he's here," Spagnuolo said. "As soon as he put his hands on him, security moved him away."

Not a fan of Churchill OR FoxNews, but that is besides the point. Reporters on the clock should not start $h!t and/or put their hands on anybody, they should report the news. I guess it is hard to do that when you work for such a crappy network. Justifying the reporter's actions with an ad hominem attack on Churchill is typical of FoxNews supporters, and that's one of the (many) reasons why sensible people cannot stand the awful "news" channel.
Who cares if the reporter is small and Churchill is big? Some of these comments are hilarious; they remind me that I live among some complete idiots!

The Fox reporter jumped in Churchill's face and was removed by security. I was right there as it unfolded. This is what the Fox reporter always does. Aggressively confronts and becomes part of the story, which is unfortunate as it took some of the focus away from the event. He was removed by security. When you confront in an attacking manner, be prepared to suffer the consequences. Of all these posts, I wonder how many were actually there and witnessed the event. Just watching on Fox does not mean you "saw" it “fair and balanced.”

And by the way, Churchill lied about his background to get a job for which he was totally unqualified; committed plagiarism in both written works and art works; insulted the people killed in the WTC by calling them a "bunch of little Eichmanns"; and in general insulted anyone in the United States with an IQ larger than their shoe size.

If Ward Churchill wore a green shirt, they would say it was red, just so they could call him a communist. If he was minding his own business, they would say he was causing a scene. Ah, yes Anderson. Back to the old talk radio shtick. If you can't sound intelligent or persuasive you can always go back to your old standby non-argument and attack those who listen to talk radio because, you know, you're so "above it all." One who says he abhors talk radio but is an expert on it. LOL
You were looking for a rational discussion of "a media event?" A little guy with a mike and camera crew asks Ward for comment and Ward says he doesn't talk to Fox and that qualifies as a media event? Maybe it is a "media event" because the chief instigator for chaos (Spagnulo) CLAIMS that the 130 lb. behemoth put his hands on big chief Churchill. Or, maybe it is a media event because Fox is playing it up to the hilt and the RMN reports it as news. I consider it nothing except an example of the kinds of rationality of these protesters based on their actions.
This is all rather silly for the RMN to feature this story like it was some kind of big event. However, the mob's actions of shouting obscenities at a Fox reporter and against Fox news show the true 'character' of these free speech idiots. Not dissimiliar to many of the opinions around here about Fox. Not content to change the channel, many of these rubes would like to see them shut down because they don't like the content of their programs.
This incident illustrates the difference between those who would like a FAIRNESS DOCTRINE and those like myself who, while they feel that many, if not most of the media is liberally biased and in the tank for one particular candidate, don't advocate closing down or stifling them or their businesses.
I have no problem with anybody, including Churchill declining comment. His right. If he wants to fire up his goon squad and proclaim that he doesn't talk to Fox because they promote slander, that is his right as well. What is instructive is the response of his mind numbed robot goons as they swarm the evil reporter. Proof that a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

tudderj: it wasn't me who made that reference. As to what actually occurred, the journalist did his job by inquiring from different sources what happened (he apparently couldn't reach Jenkins). In addition, the RMN filled out the story by posting a video. In any case, whether he touched him or not, as someone here who was there and saw it said: Jenkins was "in his face". So it was an unwelcome intrusion. Churchill's security apparently took care of the situation and no harm was done (unless you want to count the crowd shouting at Jenkins as harm--sticks and stones). The other part of the story, in my view, is why Fox News was pursuing Churchill in the first place. It sounds like they were trying to create a story by provoking him.

I like seeing more of Ward Churchill rather than less. The more we see the less we want the radical left in this country and to a lesser degree Obama/Biden.
Churchill is the best thing to happen for democracy in this country and I hope the press keeps him in front of the cameras. There is a definite thug mentality in protesters but they should be accommodated with more batons.

I am already sick of the DNC.
I am sick of the smelly, unkempt animals that wander around in traffic on the 16th street mall and scream profanity at the police.
I am sick of people that are nostalgically reminiscing about the Kent State debacle and hoping that the same kind of thing will happen here.
I am sick of people like Glenn Spagnuolo and Ward Churchill.
I am sick of these protests, the purpose of which is not to bring attention to a cause or to change the world for the better...the real purpose is to get attention and cause strife and chaos.
I am sick of self important, self righteous idiots who, by calling themselves Democrats, devalue the entire party.
And I am sick of the politicians who condone all this, who say nothing against these grown-up children for fear of compromising their voter base.
I am an independent who votes in a liberal direction, and I am ashamed to have allies such as these.

Ward doesn’t have much credibility as he has been caught in a number of frauds. Glen is a leader of a group called Re-Create 68’, if his group doesn’t really want to re-create what happened at the 1968 convention then they shouldn’t call themselves that, the title re-create 68 is already confrontational. The videos that cover this incident are not only from Fox news, did they miss the reporter “putting his hand on Ward”? I wouldn’t assume that just because someone puts his hand on me that it is to assault/harm me, in fact I would be in way too many confrontations if I reacted that way.
The video of this just gives the so-called protesters a bad image; they did not have to react the way they did, in fact they had an opportunity to bring some credibility to themselves, instead they only supported that their groups name is hostile, Re-Create 68.

I am sorry that Recreate '68 chose to affiliate itself with Ward Churchill, but it should not be judged solely by that. There are plenty of protesters who do not endorse his views.

Spagnuolo claims that Griff put his hands on Churchill, and that as soon as he did so, they had Security move Griff out. But the video seems to tell another story. You can see the security guy just behind Griff talking on his headset while Griff argues with a screaming balding old hippie. While this scene is dragging on, Churchill is nowhere in the picture. It's obvious that in the middle of the argument, the order comes through to the security guy to grab Griff and haul him outta there. Too bad for Spagnuolo that his claims are posted right next to a video that puts the lie to those claims

This is typical of the coward Ward Churchill. When you can't intimidate people, then lie & make up stories about them.
His bodyguard entourage (that's right, he needed several large men to protect his frail ego) were the ones shoving their huge chests into the much smaller Fox reporter. It's completely caught on film.
Churchill is such a coward, he never goes anywhere without some sort of protection. He was a wimp as a teacher too.
All mouth & full of it.

What a ridiculous bunch of children cursing the news media and "defending" poor misunderstood Ward Churchill. Nothing but name calling and simple-sminded sloganeering. Truth is an alien concept for these cry-baby loser "protesters." Is this all you've got? This is America's future?

So, it's ok for 60 Minutes to do the exact same thing, but not ok for Fox News? This guy did nothing more than what hundreds of "Action News, I-Investgates, 7 on your Side" reporters have been doing for years. Mike Wallace and CBS, Good! Fox News...BAD!
As Eric Idle said: "I'm starting a war for peace".
And over someone as irrelevant as this toolbag. No one touches Ward? No one puts Baby in a corner either.
Or violates the truth like Ward, along with his band of Paint Shop Pro Basement Dwelling Self-Touchers.

The individual referred to here as a "Faux reporter," is not actually a reporter, he's a pest, a paparazzo who stalks innocent victims, with mic and cameraman at hand. If a professional reporter from CNN or MSNBC did what Waldo (Jenkins) does, GOP(f)ers everywhere would be raising hell.
What we have here is an inane elitist emerging from under a rock to walk in a territory only besserwisser wimps would walk because they feel protected by a satanic army of GOP(f)ers seeking to disrupt a peaceful congregation gathered to express their views as American citizens.
If the right wingers who posted here had to deal with him, they'd probably whack him up and down the street to keep him from invading their privacy, a sleazy tactic that is his forte.
As for the "666's" comments, think what will happen if the right-wing GOP(f)er religious class took absolute power. We'd have absolute corruption of our Constitution, and an Inquisition to boot!
Meanwhile, everyone knows that you don't go to a party with the intention of unduly disrupting it. That's buzz kill, my friends, buzz kill. There's no issue of free speech here.
But that's Waldo -- "Pest" is his middle name, and buzz kill is his weapon.
Meanwhile, all the right-wing poster seem to believe that "free speech" is bad, now! Put the "Recreate '68" folks in jail? Or what? Sending Faux's Waldo the Pest into their demonstration was like pouring gasoline on a fire. What do you expect? Just because one of the people there is Ward Churchill? You don't like Churchill? Too bad.
I know! You would like to hang him, because he's an avowed socialist, right? No free speech for Ward Churchill, but anything for Waldo. Churchill has the right to roam without a mic being stuck up his nose.
Like I said, Waldo's a Pest, and buzz kill is his smell, his weapon of choice. And he lives underground with
GOP(f)ers.
