AIR FORCE ACADEMY - Air Force lists 99 players on its updated varsity roster. None of them will wear No. 1.
That's not homage to the recently graduated Chad Hall, who wore the number last season when he broke several academy records and earned Mountain West Conference offensive player of the year honors.
As long as Troy Calhoun is coach at the academy, the number won't be issued.
"The way I look at it at the Air Force Academy, it takes us all to make a one," Calhoun said. "It will never be about a coach, it will never be about a player. That's not the institution. And that's absolutely not us from the team part of it."
Besides, Calhoun said, Air Force already has a No. 1. "It's a plane," he said. "We've got Air Force One."
